Quick answer: Under eye fat repositioning (also called fat redistribution or fat transposition) moves the fat that forms under-eye bags down into the hollow tear trough below it. Instead of removing fat, it fills the groove with your own tissue. The result is a smooth, even under-eye with less puffiness and fewer dark shadows, usually through an incision inside the eyelid.
WHY REPOSITION INSTEAD OF REMOVE?
Under-eye bags and dark circles often happen together. Fat bulges forward above a groove (the tear trough) that is hollow. Removing the bag alone can deepen the hollow. Repositioning uses the same fat to fill the hollow, treating both problems at once and keeping volume that supports a youthful look. It is a key Korean technique and a modern form of lower blepharoplasty.
HOW THE PROCEDURE WORKS
- An incision is made inside the lower eyelid (transconjunctival), so there is no visible scar.
- The fat pads are released and gently moved over the orbital rim into the tear trough.
- The fat is secured in place with fine sutures.
- If there is excess skin, a small skin pinch below the lashes may be added.
The procedure usually takes about 1–1.5 hours under sedation or general anaesthesia.
