Breast Revision
WOOA Plastic Surgery is in HM Tower, 492 Gangnam-daero, a short walk from Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam Stations.
Breast revision at WOOA corrects problems left by an earlier operation – capsular contracture, hardness, implant movement, asymmetry or an unwanted size – and rebuilds a breast that looks natural, feels soft and stays stable. Even difficult revisions, including those through the armpit, are handled by WOOA’s breast team.

What Is Breast Revision Surgery?
Breast revision surgery is a second operation to fix the shape, feel or position of previously augmented breasts. Because the first surgery leaves scar tissue (capsule), adhesions or looser skin, revision is more delicate than a primary augmentation. WOOA starts by assessing the capsule, implant position, tissue and skin together, so the root cause is treated and the same problem does not return.
Why Is Breast Revision Surgery Performed?
Common reasons patients come to WOOA for revision include:
Capsular Contracture: the capsule around the implant thickens and hardens, making the breast firm, round or painful.
Size Problems or Asymmetry: dissatisfaction with size, or a visible difference between the two sides.
Double Line / Bottoming Out: two breast folds become visible, or the implant drops and bulges at the bottom.
Synmastia: the implants meet in the middle so the cleavage disappears.
Inflammation or Pain: discomfort linked to side effects of a previous operation.
How Is Breast Revision Performed at WOOA?
The plan depends on what caused the problem. Options include:
- Capsulotomy: the capsule is partly released when only the breast shape needs improving.
- Capsulectomy: the whole capsule is removed when contracture or other complications are found – WOOA carefully removes thick capsules over 0.6mm.
- En Bloc Capsulectomy: the implant and capsule are removed together in one piece when, for example, a tumour is diagnosed.
- Implant Change or New Layer: the implant may be replaced or moved to a new plane, such as WOOA’s Triple-Plane Method.
Full HD endoscopy lets the surgeon work precisely without damaging the muscle, and armpit revisions can be done through the original incision.
Recovery and Results
- Recovery Time: Similar to a first augmentation, though it can take a little longer where there are adhesions. Most patients resume everyday activities within 3–4 days.
- Drain: A drain may be kept for 3–7 days depending on your condition.
- Results: By correcting the underlying structure and choosing a suitable implant, revision can improve feel, shape and symmetry for a more natural result.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Breast revision may help if you:
- Have hard breasts from capsular contracture after surgery.
- Have pain from inflammation or other side effects.
- Are unhappy with the size, or one side differs from the other.
- Have an implant that has dropped, or implants that have merged in the middle.
Breast Revision FAQs
Do I need to replace my existing implant?
Not always. An implant in good condition can often stay in place. If there is contracture, damage or deformation, it may be replaced, or removed and re-inserted. Your surgeon will advise the safest option after a thorough assessment.
Is it always necessary to remove the capsule?
Only when the capsule is causing the problem. Using minimally invasive techniques, WOOA performs a full or partial removal as needed while protecting the surrounding tissue.
Can the result feel more natural than my first surgery?
Yes – by addressing structural issues and selecting the right implant, revision can improve texture, shape, symmetry and how long the result lasts.
