Quick answer: A thread lift is a non-surgical facelift. Absorbable threads (PDO, PLLA or PCL) with small barbs or cones are placed under the skin with a fine needle to lift sagging cheeks, jowls, jawline and brows. It takes about 30–60 minutes, needs little downtime, and also stimulates collagen. Results usually last about 12–18 months.
HOW DOES A THREAD LIFT WORK?
Using a thin cannula or needle, the doctor places threads under the skin along planned lift lines. Cog (barbed) threads grip the tissue and lift it into a higher position. Mono threads are placed in a mesh to tighten and thicken the skin. Over the following months the threads dissolve naturally, and new collagen forms around them, which supports firmer skin.

THREAD LIFT VS. FACELIFT
A thread lift is ideal for mild to moderate sagging and for patients who want minimal downtime. It cannot match the strength or longevity of a surgical deep plane facelift or mini facelift. For moderate upper-face sagging, a ponytail lift is a longer-lasting middle option.

RECOVERY AND AFTERCARE

How long does a thread lift last?
Typically 12–18 months, depending on the thread type, number of threads and your skin. The collagen effect can continue after the threads dissolve.
Is a thread lift painful?
It is done under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel only pressure. Mild soreness for a few days is normal.
Can a thread lift be combined with fillers or Botox?
Yes. Threads are often combined with fillers for volume and Botox for muscle relaxation for a more complete result.
Who should not get a thread lift?
People with very heavy sagging or thin, very loose skin may get limited results and may be better suited to surgery. Active skin infection or pregnancy are also reasons to wait.
Can I fly after a thread lift?
Yes. Most patients can fly within 1–2 days after a check-up.
