Post-Op Instructions
Following your aftercare plan closely is one of the most important things you can do for a good result. Here is what recovery typically looks like after breast surgery at WOOA.
The First Days
- Rest for the first 48 hours and avoid lifting anything heavy for 2–4 weeks.
- You can usually start eating about 8 hours after surgery – soft foods such as porridge are best.
- Sleep with your upper body raised 20–30 degrees for the first one to two days.
- Take all prescribed medication exactly as directed.
Wound Care & Garments
- Incisions are typically closed with medical-grade glue, so stitches do not need to be removed.
- Wear the support garment for about one month, and the upper band for 2–4 weeks.
- Keep a waterproof dressing over the incision in the first week; full showers are usually allowed after your 7-day check-up.
- If a drain was used (for example in revision surgery), it normally stays in for 3–7 days.
- If smooth implants were placed, follow the massage routine your clinic recommends.
Returning to Normal Life
- Avoid alcohol for one month and smoking for three months after surgery.
- Driving can usually resume after 7–10 days.
- Light walking, jogging or hiking from about two weeks; golf, tennis, swimming or yoga from one month; upper-body weight training from three months.
- Sleep on your side from one month and on your front from three months.
Not following aftercare advice can increase the risk of bleeding, infection or inflammation. WOOA also offers recovery support such as Healite and radiofrequency care, scar and bruise treatments and lymphatic drainage.
These are general guidelines based on WOOA’s standard breast-surgery care. Every patient receives personalised instructions from their surgeon at consultation and before discharge – always follow the advice given to you, and contact WOOA’s 24-hour support team if anything feels wrong.
