WHAT IS A DEEP PLANE FACELIFT?
A traditional SMAS facelift tightens the muscle layer by folding or trimming it. A deep plane facelift goes one layer deeper. The surgeon releases key retaining ligaments (such as the zygomatic and masseteric ligaments) so the cheek fat and SMAS can be moved back up to where they were in youth. Because the deep layer carries the lift, the skin is not pulled tight. This avoids the “windswept” or overdone look.

THE PROCEDURE
